Symptoms of聽Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus

Symptoms of normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) may seem like those of Alzheimer鈥檚 and Parkinson鈥檚 disease. But there are key differences.

  • NPH: There are three main symptoms:
    • Difficulty walking
    • Cognitive impairment (memory issues and difficulty with thinking and reasoning)
    • Urinary incontinence (loss of bladder control)
  • Alzheimer's disease: Symptoms include:
    • Memory issues that get worse over time
    • Confusion
    • Difficulty with thinking and reasoning
  • Parkinson's disease: This condition mainly:
    • Affects your ability to move easily and quickly
    • Causes tremors (shaking)
    • Causes stiffness
    • Affects your ability to think, reason and remember (typically happens in later stages)
