Symptoms of normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) may seem like those of Alzheimer鈥檚 and Parkinson鈥檚 disease. But there are key differences.
- NPH: There are three main symptoms:
- Difficulty walking
- Cognitive impairment (memory issues and difficulty with thinking and reasoning)
- Urinary incontinence (loss of bladder control)
- Alzheimer's disease: Symptoms include:
- Memory issues that get worse over time
- Confusion
- Difficulty with thinking and reasoning
- Parkinson's disease: This condition mainly:
- Affects your ability to move easily and quickly
- Causes tremors (shaking)
- Causes stiffness
- Affects your ability to think, reason and remember (typically happens in later stages)
