Screening Breast MRI

Screening Breast MRI

If you’re at high risk for breast cancer, or if you have very dense breast tissue, you may need to get breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Breast MRI uses magnets and a computer (not radiation) to create detailed images of your breast tissue. A liquid is injected into your veins during the test. The liquid makes areas of concern appear bright on the MRI. The breast radiologist will review the images after the computer gets all the information from the exam.
