What To Expect on the Day of Your Screening Mammogram or Ultrasound

The information below can help you get ready for your screening mammogram.

Prepare for your appointment

  • Please wear a 2-piece outfit to your appointment.
  • If you have any breast lump(s), discharge, pain or other symptoms, please contact us before your appointment. We may need to reschedule your appointment.
  • Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment for check-in and registration.
    • Arrive 1 hour before your appointment if you are bringing imaging and reports from outside of 华体会 that you have not given us yet. (See more information below.)
  • Please do not wear deodorant, powder or perfume.
  • Do not bring children under the age of 12 to your appointment. They cannot be left alone during your exam.

What to expect

  • When you check in, you may need to pay for some services and existing balances.
  • Before the mammogram, you will change into clothing we will give you. This clothing will only cover you from the waist up.
  • You may have a little discomfort during the mammogram. However, the procedure is not harmful and will not damage breast tissue.
  • Your appointment may take 30 minutes to 1 hour from start to finish.

If you have had imaging outside of 华体会

We will need any breast imaging and reports from a non-华体会 facility from the past 5 years and/or 5 most recent examinations.

We will need:

  • Breast images and reports from any breast MRI, mammogram or ultrasound
  • Breast images and reports from biopsies or surgeries
You have 4 options to get imaging and reports to us:
  • Upload your imaging and reports to your MyNM account online. Use the How to Upload Imaging in MyNM guide for step-by-step instructions.
  • Fill out and sign the Authorization to Obtain Information form. You should begin this process at least 10 days before your appointment.
  • Mail all imaging and reports to the Breast Health Center where your appointment is scheduled. See the addresses at the end of this form.
  • Bring your imaging and reports with you. Please arrive 1 hour before your exam so we can process your images.
